You love each other, but conversations escalate, distance grows, or silence takes over. You try to talk it through, but end up feeling misunderstood, defensive, or alone.
The Hold Me Tight® Couples Workshop is a structured, research-based weekend designed to help couples slow down, understand their patterns, and learn how to reconnect in ways that feel safe, supportive, and lasting.
This isn’t about surface-level communication tips. It’s about attachment, nervous systems, and emotional safety.
The Hold Me Tight® workshop is a structured, experiential weekend that helps couples understand and repair their attachment bonds.
It is based on Dr. Sue Johnson’s groundbreaking work in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)—the gold standard in couples therapy research. EFT is supported by decades of studies showing measurable improvements in relationship satisfaction, emotional safety, and secure attachment.
Dr. Johnson’s best-selling book, Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love, forms the foundation of the workshop. Using this research-backed roadmap, couples learn to:
Recognize negative cycles and patterns
Strengthen emotional responsiveness
Build lasting trust and connection
This workshop is carefully structured, not improvised, offering couples a tested, evidence-based path to repair and strengthen their relationship.
The weekend combines guided teaching, video examples, reflective exercises, and private couple conversations – allowing you to apply what you learn directly to your relationship in real time.
Most couples struggle not because they don’t care, but because attachment needs drive emotional responses:
One partner may pursue closeness; the other may withdraw.
Negative cycles form, creating distance, resentment, and repeated fights.
Over time, connection feels unsafe and exhausting.
The workshop helps couples:
Identify their negative cycles
Understand emotional triggers
Rebuild trust and safety
Practice intentional, effective conversations
A transformational weekend for couples who want closeness again
You don’t need more advice.
You need a guided reset.
This weekend retreat is built around the 7 Hold Me Tight® Conversations—a proven, trauma-informed process that helps couples move out of conflict and back into connection.
No lectures.
No forced sharing.
Just skilled guidance, real conversations, and lasting change.
End the same fight—for good
You’ll identify the cycle that hijacks your relationship and learn how to stop turning on each other when things get hard.
Most couples say:
“This alone was worth the weekend.”
Understand the tender places underneath the reactions
You’ll uncover what’s actually getting touched in moments of conflict—so defensiveness softens and compassion grows.
This is where blame loses its grip.
Talk about a painful moment—without it blowing up
With therapist support, you’ll revisit one key interaction and experience what real repair feels like.
Clear. Safe. Relieving.
Learn how to reach—and respond
This is the heart of the retreat. You’ll practice asking for closeness and responding in ways that build safety instead of distance.
These moments change relationships.
Address what still lives between you
Betrayal, abandonment, emotional injuries—handled with care, structure, and respect for your pace.
No rushing.
No minimizing.
Real healing.
Closeness without pressure or performance
You’ll explore how emotional safety reshapes desire, touch, and physical connection.
Relief replaces tension.
Connection replaces effort.
Leave with a shared roadmap
You’ll walk away with language, tools, and confidence to handle conflict, stress, and future challenges—together.
Not perfect.
Connected.
You feel stuck in the same arguments
Trust has been shaken
You love each other but feel far apart
You want deep change—not surface fixes
Led by licensed trauma-informed therapists
Structured to prevent overwhelm
Designed for real repair, not just insight
You don’t need to try harder.
You need the right container.
Ideal participants are:
Couples who love each other but feel disconnected
Couples repeating the same arguments despite trying to communicate
Partners open to slowing down and exploring the “why” behind their reactions
Couples committed to practicing new ways to connect
Not appropriate if:
You are in acute crisis or high emotional volatility
One or both partners are actively considering divorce
There is untreated addiction
You are in early/acute affair recovery
There is ongoing deception, coercion, or lack of basic emotional safety
Couples in these situations may benefit more from a private intensive, which provides individualized, contained support and preparation for group work later.
